LIASA

The Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) is a professional non-profit organisation uniting and representing all institutions and people working in libraries and information services in South Africa. The 11th LIASA Annual Conference for 2009 took place at the Bloemfontein Campus of the Central University of Technology, Free State from 28 September until 2 October. Z2A Events together with the conference committee hosted an estimate of 720 librarians, with a strong contingent from Africa and some other international delegates. A number of invited speakers from various African and European countries attended the conference. For the general participant it offered a mixture of opening sessions, plenary sessions, a large exhibition and cultural events. It also provided the opportunity for library visits and tours of the host city.

The theme, 'On the move', was incorporated in all the activities including the Scientific presentations, refreshments and meals, the utilisation of the venues, the social programme and networking and even in the conference bag. Delegates enjoyed the conference thoroughly and the attention to detail combined with efficiency and friendliness made it one of the most memorable conferences to date. The Z2A team is grateful for the opportunity granted to them to assist in organising the event and take pride in the commitment of their team members.

ATKV Applous Choir Festival

One of the projects that are very close to our heart is the ATKV Applous Choir Festival we have been involved in for the past 6 years. We help the choirs with all their accommodation needs during the Choir Festival. This year we organised accommodation for 17 choirs. The event took place at the Sand du Plessis Theatre
The previous ATKV Applous Choir Festivals that we were involved in, was:
2004 - Bloemfontein
2005 - Hartenbos
2006 - Pretoria
2007 - Pretoria
2008 - Cape Town
2009 - Bloemfontein

Every year we enjoy listening to the incredible choirs that got through to the ATKV Applous Finals. This is always an event to remember and to look forward to!

Congratulations to all the choirs that competed this year! You all were amazing!

If you have any enquiry about accommodation for your choir, please feel free to contact us.

Soul Buddyz

The 4th annual Soul Buddyz National Congress took place in the Western Cape, at Goudini Spa from the 4th - 9th December 2008. The objective of the Soul Buddyz National Congress is to provide a forum to increase Club members' participation in the Soul Buddyz Club programme. It is also aimed at providing a platform for the Club members, facilitators and key stakeholders to network, share experiences and to learn skills. It is also an opportunity for the children to have fun and an opportunity for us as an organisation to interact with the children face to face, to learn from them and to get ideas and information that could inform future strategy and activities.

Currently Z2A Events are busy organising the 5th National Congress which will take place in Mpumalanga at Forever Resorts Badplaas from the 9th - 14th of December 2009. This will be our 4th consecutive conference, all in different provinces, and we really feel part of the Soul Buddyz family.
Soul Buddyz is a worthwhile cause and gives us hope for our country. The experiences, considering the circumstances some of these kids come from, are second to none. It was great (a real tears in the eyes experience) to see some of these kids entering an airport, traveling by plane and getting three full meals per day. I can just imagine the stories being told once back at home!

These projects are the ones we live for - making a difference, in this particular one, a huge one, to people's lives. We just love it!
